House Rules
Welcome to Swiss Cottage! We hope you enjoy your stay! HOUSE RULES 1. Parking - There are two parking spots in front of the cottage. Please park in the driveway and not on the neighborhood roads outside the cottage. The roads can be narrow making it difficult for neighbors to get by. If you need additional parking, you may be able park on the main canyon road (summer only). Please know that we cannot be responsible for any lost items or damage regardless of where you park your car. 2. NO FIRES - Due to high fire danger, the fire department has BANNED ALL outdoor fires / open flames of any kind. Guests who light a fire may be cited by police and/or the fire department and are in violation of house rules. Guests are also liable for the spread of any wildfire. 3. Neighbors and Quiet Hours (No Parties)- The neighborhood is very small and very quiet. Please be respectful of the neighbors in terms of noise. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am. Our house rules specifically state that there are No Parties allowed. Neighbors are very likely to call the police and report a party and/or excessive noise. We want your stay to be a positive experience for everyone involved so please don’t risk it. The property is equipped with a device that monitors the environment inside the property (including noise levels, temperature, and motion) to ensure guests have a pleasant stay and our neighbors are not disturbed. The device does not record any sound (and does not have a camera). The device will notify the host if it detects a large number of people, smoke in the cottage and/or noise levels that would create a disturbance. We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience. In general, most of my neighbors like to keep to themselves so if you have questions, please ask me. 4. Dogs and Pets - Please remember that there are no pets allowed in the cottage at any time. Dogs are specifically prohibited in Big Cottonwood Canyon as it is a watershed and the police frequently issue fines (even if the dog is kept in a car). 5. Trash - there are bears (and other animals) in the canyon and so we ask that you not leave any trash or trash bags outside at any time. There are two spots to dump trash and recycling included in the guidebook at the property. We pay for access to these dumpsters on a monthly basis so they are yours to use. 6. Water- our water comes from natural springs in the area. They flow at a lower rate in the winter time. Showers will be hot but please don't run longer than needed and help us to conserve winter water. If you have any problems with water during your stay, please let us know ASAP as we want you to be comfortable. 7. Ski storage - We kindly ask that you do NOT bring SKIs or POLES into the cabin. We suggest that you store those either on your vehicle or if you would like in the shed adjacent to the driveway (it is unlocked). We DO provide dryers for boots and gloves inside the cabin as well as hooks for coats and pants. We want your gear to be nice and dry every morning! Note that the cabin does have a combination washer and dryer for your use, however, it is not well-suited to drying wet ski gear. 8. Safety: You acknowledge that you are in an alpine environment where snow, ice and other natural hazards may be present on any surface at any time (including but not limited to falling snow and ice). As your hosts, we have made reasonable efforts to make the surroundings as safe as possible for all guests, however, we are not responsible for any injury or accident associated with your stay. Guests acknowledge that snow removal may occur at any time during their stay, day or night, in an effort to ensure safety and accessibility. Host will make reasonable efforts to remove new or heavy snow, however, natural events may prevent us from doing so (we provide a shovel by the door for guest use). Guests are not to attempt to use or play on any snow removal equipment other than the shovel provided. Guests agree to exercise caution and good judgement to avoid accident and injury and follow all posted signs and warnings in and around the cottage. Guests accept all risks and liability for any injury, accident or theft and agree to hold the host harmless from all damages, litigation or other responsibility. Do not attempt to climb on the roof. Doing so can result in serious injury or death. Doing so will result in loss of your security deposit and additional fees. 9. Communication and Feedback - we want your experience to be amazing and we want to earn a 5 star review from you. If there is anything we can do to make your stay better, please contact us via the AirBnB app ASAP. And when you leave, please be sure to leave us a review. It helps us know what we’re doing well and helps other travelers know what they can expect. Thank You! Thanks again. We hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we do!
Other Details to Note
Once your reservation is confirmed, we'll provide you with a list of recommendations (places to ski, eat, drink, things to do, etc.) to make the most of your time in the mountains. 24 hours prior to check in, we'll provide you with all of the details that you need to find the property, check in and start a fantastic stay with us. This cottage is in a residential area and showing respect to the neighbors is very important. Parties will be shut down and noise and other ordinances are enforced by local officials. We want your stay to be a great experience for everyone so if you're unsure if the cottage will work for your group, please reach out to ask and we will be happy to help. The grill is located on the back deck; however, it is not available for use during the winter months. Both the grill and the deck are considered summertime amenities, as the weather conditions make them inaccessible and unsuitable for use during this season. The property is equipped with a device that monitors smoke, carbon monoxide and noise levels (but does not record audio or video of any kind). It notifies the host if the noise level gets loud enough to disturb neighbors. We also have one camera outside of the chalet to monitor the property for your safety and security.
